We’ve launched a new venture into short-term rental properties, and we couldn’t be more excited! What started as a dream a few years ago, has become a reality. In summer 2023, we launched Hammond Bros Properties, which right now includes two short-term rental properties – built and styled by us.
What has been the most fun about both of these projects is imagining, designing, and executing spaces that people will love and where we imagine they will create their own memories.
We (David and Jonathan) both have a natural streak of hospitality. We love bringing people into our homes and hosting gatherings. These projects are an extension of that love of hospitality. We can’t wait to see how people use these spaces to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Vacation Property #1: Dreamland Cove Lake House
We designed this house to have everything for the ultimate family vacation with features like stunning mountain views, a private cove, and spacious interiors including a large fully equipped kitchen! We want guests to be able to unwind on the covered porch, indulge in the game room and theater, or relax in the hot tub. Kayaks, paddle boards, a paddle boat, a 2-story dock with a tube slide and a 28’ boat slip available for guests to use.
We started this process from scratch. Jonathan drew up dozens of floor plans to arrive at the right layout for guests. We worked with our cousin Calvin, who is an architect (and who also designed the cabin below) to finalize the details. And started with a wooded lot, and ended up with a beautiful property and dock.
We had never built a dock before, but we love a challenge. Jonathan spear-headed this side of the project, spending countless hours researching the process and sourcing materials to build a floating dock. We love how it turned out. But we love even more to see our kids and families enjoying the space … especially the tube slide!
David put his electrical and technological mind to work. He built a state-of-the-art home theater room, custom lighting design (like the under-bed lighting shown above), built-in speakers throughout the house, and outdoor accent lights that feel modern, polished, and definitively high-end.
This property is located on Watts Bar Lake, just an hour from Chattanooga and Knoxville.
Vacation Property #2: Cabin in the Woods
This one-bedroom cabin is perfect for couples, solo adventures, business travelers, and small families. We wanted guests to experience peace and relaxation in this modern cabin.

Our cabin is located in McDonald, TN, just 30 minutes from both Chattanooga and the Ocoee River areas.
Hammond Bros Properties
One of the other unique challenges for us has been furnishing these homes from top to bottom. We have never done that before; our Hammond Bros new spec homes are sold without furnishings. David’s wife, Heather, joined our team to help guide the design side and source all the furnishings, along with Jonathan’s wife, Laurel, who created the most well-stocked kitchen that you will probably find at any rental! It’s been a team effort, and we are so excited to see the finished product. Both rental properties have the true Hammond Brothers Construction stamp of design and thoughtfulness.
